ABOUT

“There's gotta be a way out of this dungeon..."
― Robert Asprin

DARREN COX - OWNER/OPERATOR
Darren is an avid gamer (of all types). Inducted into the world of D&D over 30 years ago when he received his first Red Box basic edition for Christmas, he has often been quoted as saying that on that day his life changed forever. When not building tabletop terrain, gaming, designing games, or producing some form of art, he can be found at the gym, enjoying the outdoors, or chained to his desk as a graphic/UX designer for the Department of Defense. Among his many other hobbies/interests Darren is also a freelance illustrator and a writer with multiple publishing credits, including winning the Black Library/Warhammer 40k international writing contest. He has also worked hand-in-hand with Lucas Film Ltd to design/create and manage the award winning "Star Wars - Jedi Experience" at the US Space and Rocket Center.

WHAT DOES HE SAY...
How long have you been building/painting terrain?
30 + years if you include all the castles I built out of my Dad's empty beer boxes when I was in grade school ;) My favorite toys from that period were anything I could construct with cardboard, tape, and glue. Obviously, it has escalated from there...

Favorite games?
RPGs: D&D, Pathfinder, Star Wars, and Call of Cthulhu. Also partial to a few of my own creation - Hellmancer, Inquistor 40K, and Destiny the RPG
BOARD GAMES: Chess, Risk, Arkham Horror, Munchkin, and Betrayal on House on the Hill
VIDEO GAMES: Destiny, The Division, Halo, Gears of War, Fable, to name a few...

Any advice?
When you sit down in front of a TV....STOP!  Get up and build something of your own instead.
Life is short, create more than you consume :)

JASON HATFIELD - TERRAIN ARTIST
Jason is a gamer of most genres, especially table top and video games, you name it. He started table top gaming in middle school with Robotech, Rifts, and then Marvel Super Heroes RPG. It wasn’t until he was invited to play Darren’s game Greymeer did he start to play D&D regularly and began to make maps, terrain, and props for table top games. This has become a friendly game between Darren and Jason, to one up each other making new and cooler terrain. When he is not gaming or making terrain, he is spending time with family, church, traveling, or at work.

WHAT DOES HE SAY…
How long have you been building/painting terrain?
I have been making terrain for a long time. First started as a child when I would make “cities” out of dirt and mud for my little cars. I created a few things in the in between years, but it wasn’t until I started playing Darren’s Greymeer game that proper terrain building took over my free time and most of the house.

Favorite games?
RPGs: D&D, Pathfinder, Star Wars, Robotech, Rifts, and Warhammer 40k
VIDEO GAMES: Destiny, Halo, WoW, retro gaming…

Any advice?

Do or do not, there is not try…
